Last summer my husband and I adopted a very special dog from NorCal Golden Retriever Rescue. Brodie is now almost two years old, and not only is he extremely lovable, he regularly astonishes us with his talent and athletic abilities. In addition to his excellent running, jumping, swimming and diving abilities, Brodie amazed us the day after we brought him home with his ability to stuff tennis balls in his mouth. When we dropped the contents of a canister of three balls in front of him, he quickly proceeded to cram all three balls into his mouth! He then trotted joyfully around the backyard, with a big tennis ball grin on his face.
For months after the initial event, Brodie would perform his tennis ball trick on a daily basis, always bursting with pride at his accomplishment. One day, I decided to see if three balls was the limit. Although it didn’t appear there was room for any more, Brodie soon found a way to do it – one on each side and two down the middle. While I’m thinking there is no way he can squeeze any more balls into his mouth, I am hesitant to say “never” where Brodie is concerned. He is one determined canine, and if it can be done, I know he’ll find a way. In the meantime, Brodie is basking in the adoration of his loving owners and amazing all of our friends and family with his tennis ball tricks.
